Prof. Yoram Abramov
Prof. Yoram Abramov graduated from the Hebrew University Medical School, and later completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the Hadassah Hebrew University Medical Center in Jerusalem, Israel. He completed a 3-year fellowship program in urogynecology and reconstructive pelvic surgery at Northwestern University, Chicago, IL, U.S.A.
He is the director of the Division of Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery at the Carmel Medical Center in Haifa, Israel. He holds an academic apointment of a clinical associate professor at the Technion University, Rappaport Faculty of Medicine, and is a member of the Israeli Medical Association, the Israeli Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the International Urogynecology Association and the Israeli Society for Urogynecology and Pelvic Floor Dysfunction.
Prof. Abramov published more than 90 scientific journal articles and book chapters and has given more than 120 lectures in professional and scientific meetings all over the world.
Prof. Yoram Abramov was selected for the Duns 100 Medical ranking as a leading gynecologist for 2025 in the field of urogynecology and pelvic floor disorders.
Fields of Expertise
Prof. Abramov specializes in various minimally invasive gynecological, urogynecological and pelvic reconstructive surgeries, most of which are performed through the vagina or via laparoscopy/hysteroscopy without having to open the abdomen.
These surgeries include transvaginal and laparoscopic hysterectomy, laparoscopic removal of ovarian cysts and uterine fibroids, repair of vaginal prolapse (sometimes with mesh placement), excision of polyps through hysteroscopy, aesthetic surgeries of the vulva and vagina, anti-urinary incontinence surgeries (such as TVT), and direct inspection of the urinary bladder and urethra (cystoscopy).
Prof. Abramov also injects medications (such as Botox) into the urinary bladder through a cystoscope, and would sometimes inject bulking agents into the urethra for stress urinary incontinence. Many of his patients were referred to him after failure of previous surgeries, since Prof. Abramov has a substantial expertise in treating recurrent cases.
Prof. Abramov is a listed surgeon and a consultant for the largest Kupot Holim including the Shaban services of Kupat Holim Meuhedet and Kupat Holim Leumit.
He is also a consultant for the largest medical insurance companies including the , 'Clal', 'Harel', 'Migdal', 'Ayalon' and 'Menora'.
